Music Ministry

Join the Mount Olive Baptist Choir Choir in song this Sunday at 11:00 am

The Music Ministry of Mount Olive is blessed to have many outstanding voices in our choirs. In the past, our Senior Choir has performed at the San Diego County Fair for Gospel Night and sung for various special services throughout the city. Today, our choir continues to be a blessing to our congregation with a mixture of both uptempo spiritual songs and traditional hymns to satisfy the soul.

Our Senior Choir is lead under the direction of DeShun Dunn (Choir President) and Barbara Dunn (Choir Director). We are blessed to have Earl Vaults (saxophonist) and James Denny (percussionist) giving our choir musical accompaniment.

Men’s Ministry

A young adult in prayer or reflectionThe Men’s Ministry at Mount Olive is designed to develop  good men and make them better men for Christ. To accomplish this our ministry seeks to teach men to be followers of Jesus Christ by becoming Men of Wisdom, Men who Witness, and Men who Worship, and Men of the Word.

Each Wednesday evening, beginning at 7:00 pm, our Men’s Ministry provides a systematic study of the Word of God through the teaching of Pastor Clater. Contact the church for more information regarding study times and lesson topics at (619) 239-0689.

Hospitality Ministry

gospel06Our Hospitality Ministry is comprised of members who share the spiritual gift of hospitality and sharing, especially to our guests and visitors to our church. Our ministry is chaired by Sharon Lewars, who along with her staff, warmly greet our members and their guests as they arrive to worship. In addition, this ministry sends “Get Well” cards  to our those who are sick and contacts members when they are absent from worship for a period of time.

The Hospitality Ministry is the bridge between the congregation and the church staff so that the Pastor, and the Deacons, can be attentive to the needs of the church, as well as maintaining an active, welcoming environment in which to worship.

homeless man image  Mount Olive Church seeks to glorify Jesus Christ by reaching those who are lost, teaching those who want to learn, caring for those in need, and loving people back to a life that will glorify the Savior. Here is what we do to help people in our urban neighborhoods meet their basic necessities and to further the gospel of Jesus Christ:

Food Drive

Mount Olive Church has partnered with the San Diego Food Bank Network to provide  canned goods and non-perishable items to families in need. We encourage our members to put their faith into action by serving families who are in need by providing personalized Care Packages or in-home cleaning services that address the basic needs of  families  who live within the target area of our church community.

Witnessing for Jesus

couple-prayingWhether you have been formally trained in sharing your faith, we at Mount Olive Church make every effort to share our faith with others who do not know the good news of Jesus Christ. Not only do we spend time in prayer, but we actively encourage our members to show kindness towards others through acts of service to demonstrate the true love of Christ. We further encourage our youth and our adults to systematically study the Bible  so that one can correctly and confidently defend the faith when the time comes.

Pastors on Point

Mount Olive participates with over 40 churches across San Diego County, from various denominations, to plan and implement a series of community development ministry efforts in order to mobilize the church and public agencies across the County to work together with our neighbors to meet the social needs of our inner city families. We trust that God will be glorified through our collaborative effort of prayer for our communities and job training classes for those who need to retool their work skills so that they can get back into the job market.
