Scripture: Isaiah 6:1 – 4

by Pastor Brian Clater

Introduction:

This narrtive clearly teaches that you can still find joy in your life if you know where to look. In our text, a man named Isaiah had heard some bad news – the king who had great rule over his kingdom had died which lift Isaiah perplexed, confused and disillusioned. But once he learned to look up to the Lord rather than look around at his particular circumstance, he discovered that the Lord can help you get back on your feet.

Main Point of the Message:

Remember that the Jesus is God’s Only Son and He is our help in the time of trouble (see Psalm 46:1-2).

Biblical Context:

Isaiah 6:1 begins with sad news – the death of King Uzziah, who was the ruler of the southern kingdom (Judah). Uzziah was Judah’s tenth king and he knew the Lord and followed closely in His ways, initially. Under King Uzziah, Judah experienced great prosperity and revitalization. But, in II Chronicles 26, King Uzziah was told that he was gonig to die. When Uzziah died, the southern kingdom started to disintegrate politically, socially and morally. Isaiah became disenchanted and disillusioned with the direction of his life and the direction of his country, Judah.

Key Questions:

What changed Isaiah’s perspective from one of gloom to joy?

2. He saw the Lord’s P_________ . (See Isaiah 6:2-3)
